CheckList for a Trouble-Free Irrigation System

CheckList for a Trouble-Free Irrigation System

To guarantee trouble-free operation, irrigation systems require low pressure and small outlets, so it’s important to address several key factors. The system should include the following key components:

  1. Pressure reducer – is attached to the water source (tap or timer) and is designed to provide constant downstream pressure regardless of higher main pressure. It helps prevent bursting and leaks in the irrigation system due to high pressure and ensures that drippers and sprayers work at their correct pressure.
  2. Inline Filter – a filter should be installed inline at the top to trap any contaminants that can come through the water and block drippers or sprays. It is more convenient to clean just one filter than to clean or replace drippers or sprayers.
  3. Ratchet Clamps – these clamps are placed over the poly pipe and barbed fitting to prevent the pipe from sliding off the fitting.
  4. End Flushing points – End Sleeves are the most effective end flushing points because they are dismantled and allow for periodic flushing out of accumulated sediments. A trouble-free irrigation system should be possible with these things in place. More information is available that demonstrates these components and a typical system.
